Above is a selection of my favorite images from 2025.
With just two weeks left in the year, it’s hard to believe how both long and fleeting 2025 has been. Over the past year, I led 28 photo workshops and had the privilege of sharing unforgettable experiences with ~300 participants from around the world, from witnessing the aurora borealis to capturing rare wildlife moments and so much more. Sharing what I love with others remains the most rewarding part of this job as a photographer.
Beyond the workshops, our Sunskye Films team embarked on an unforgettable filming expedition to Mongolia, where, after three weeks of round-the-clock waiting, we captured the world’s first footage of a newborn wild camel at the newly established Wild Camel Breeding Center in Toli Bulag. Our team members also traveled to the Sea of Cortez in Mexico to document illegal fishing and vaquita conservation efforts with Sea Shepherd, as well as to Prague Zoo in the Czech Republic to visit and meeting about the Przewalski’s horse conservation project.
Meanwhile, our Global Heritage Society team organized multiple field trips, fundraising initiatives, and educational events to support the conservation of Wild Camels and Pallas’s cats in Mongolia.
On a personal note, I was fortunate to enjoy three scuba diving adventures this year, in Tenerife, Semporna/Sipadan in Malaysia, and Malta, exploring more of the 70 percent of our planet covered by water. I was also honored to present another successful solo photo exhibition at the Photographic Society of Singapore. While I give many photography seminars each year, one stood out as especially meaningful: sharing my photography journey at my high school in Malaysia. Returning to my alma mater 25 years after graduating was a powerful reminder of how quickly time passes.
By the numbers, this year involved 54 flights, 207 hours in the air, and 219,122 kilometers (136,156 miles) traveled, that’s equivalent to 0.57 times the distance to the moon or 5.5 times around the Earth!
It has been a challenging year in terms of business operations and management, but I am grateful to still be standing strong. Here’s to hoping for a brighter and better 2026.
