Lofoten in Winter 2025

After spending about 3 months in Lofoten, I’m now on my way back to the U.S. We successfully completed all 13 groups of the Lofoten Winter Photo Workshops! This year, I had the privilege of sharing this incredible experience with 150 participants from the USA, Canada, Singapore, Brazil, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Together, we witnessed Lofoten’s breathtaking landscapes and some of the most spectacular aurora borealis displays I’ve ever seen.

A heartfelt thank you to all our collaborators, including Mark Denney, Rachel Jones Ross, David Swindler, Matt Suess, Isabella Tabacchi, Michael Choong, Danny Wong, Sam Wang, Zi Xiong Cai, and Guo Xian Xie, as well as our local operators, photo guides, and drivers: Arild Heitmann, Stian Klo, Odd-Are Hansen, Christian Høiberg, Frank Otto Pedersen, Klaus Axelsen, Thomas Vikre, Petter Sandberg, Fred Åge Hol, and Kim Jenssen.

This marks our 10th year of organizing photo workshops in Norway, and I want to extend my deepest appreciation to Arild Heitmann and Stian Klo, who have been incredible partners and friends throughout this journey. A special shoutout to my best friend, Odd-Are Hansen, who has been driving for my photo tours for 10 years, keeping everyone safe while also earning the title of Best Guide/Driver/Safety Officer/Singer/Dancer!

Looking forward to reconnecting with you all soon!

Registration for the Lofoten Winter Aurora Photo Workshop 2026 is now open! As the Sun approaches its ‘solar maximum’, we anticipate witnessing an increase in the frequency and intensity of the aurora borealis.

In 2026, we are thrilled to collaborate with renowned photographers such as Mark Denney, Rachel Jones Ross, Sean Bagshaw, Matt Suess, David Swindler, and Michael Choong.

Through our commitment to safeguarding the planet’s natural and cultural treasures, we strive to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. Join us in our mission to protect and celebrate the richness of our global heritage.

This year, we are actively engaged in the following projects and activities:

  • Wild Camel Conservation in Mongolia: We continue to support the conservation of wild camels in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia. Our efforts include raising funds to sustain the operation of wild camel breeding centers in collaboration with the Wild Camels Protection Foundation (WCPF) in the UK and Mongolia.
  • Pallas’s Cat Research and Conservation in Mongolia: We are participating in research on Pallas’s cat in northeastern Mongolia, working to identify key habitats and establish a long-term monitoring and conservation strategy. This initiative involves local communities and conservation organizations and is conducted in collaboration with the Manul Working Group (Pallas’s Cat Study and Conservation).
  • Public Education at Bergen County Zoo: In April, we will take part in the Party for the Planet at Bergen Zoo in New Jersey, educating the public on the importance of desert ecosystems and the conservation of desert wildlife.
  • Seminars on Conservation: Throughout the year, we will conduct seminars in schools to raise awareness among students about our conservation efforts in Mongolia and the significance of protecting wildlife.
  • Educational Film Productions: We are collaborating with various conservation organizations in New Jersey and New York to produce educational and promotional films aimed at raising public awareness about wildlife conservation.
  • Citizen Science Initiative: We are launching a citizen science project that involves students in analyzing data collected from our wildlife surveys in Mongolia, fostering hands-on engagement in conservation research.
