Cappadocia, nestled in the heart of Turkey, is a destination straight out of a fairy tale, captivating the imaginations of photographers worldwide. This region boasts surreal landscapes, steeped in ancient history and rich cultural heritage.

Its distinctive geological features, such as whimsical fairy chimneys, towering rock spires, and intricate cave dwellings sculpted into the soft tufa rock over centuries, create an otherworldly allure. These landscapes have not only served as shelter for generations but also as an enduring muse for countless photographers.

Cappadocia’s historical significance is profound, and its name, thought to derive from the Hittite word “Katpatuka,” translates as the “Land of Beautiful Horses.” Throughout history, this region has been celebrated for its equine heritage, making the photography of its magnificent wild horses a focal point of our upcoming adventure.

Join the renowned photographer, Dr. Kah-Wai Lin, and his local team in Cappadocia on an 8-day, 7-night photo expedition to Cappadocia, and capture the exquisite essence of this captivating land. It’s an opportunity to uncover the beauty that lies at the heart of Cappadocia’s enchantment.

Day 1

Upon arrival at Kayseri Airport (ASR), our team will warmly welcome you and arrange for your transfer to the hotel in Cappadocia. You can look forward to enjoying dinner at a charming local restaurant later in the evening.

Day 2

Before sunrise, we will depart from the hotel and head to Cavusin village, where we will capture stunning images of approximately 20 horses set against the backdrop of remarkable rock formations and hot air balloons for approximately 45 minutes. Following this, we will return to the hotel for a well-deserved breakfast and some relaxation.

Later, we’ll embark on a visit to the Zelve Open Air Museum, an ancient monastic settlement steeped in history. This site also offers fantastic opportunities for landscape photography. Afterward, we’ll savor a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before journeying to the Pasabag Fairy Chimneys Valley for a photography session amidst the unique rock formations.

In the evening, our journey will take us to Hurmetci Village, where we’ll capture the essence of around 150-200 wild Yilki horses in action, running freely through the dust, during the captivating sunset hours.

Concluding our day, we will indulge in a delectable dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3

As the sunrise, we’ll commence our photography session with the horses at Swords Valley. Initially, we’ll capture approximately 20 horses for the first 30 minutes, and then devote an hour to photographing a single horse atop a hill, surrounded by caves and stunning rock formations.
We’ll return to the hotel at approximately 08:30, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and some free time until 11:00.
Our next adventure will take us to an authentic pottery workshop in Avanos for a unique shooting experience. To enhance the visuals, we’ll employ a smog machine, adding a touch of magic to our photographs while capturing the skilled artisan at work (approximately 1 hour).
Following lunch, scheduled for around 14:00, we’ll embark on a scenic drive to the Salt Lake, which will take approximately 2.5 hours. Here, we will have the opportunity to photograph two horses against the stunning backdrop of the lake as the sun sets (approximately 1.5 hours). After the sunset, we’ll make our way back to the hotel.
For dinner, we’ll enjoy a meal at a restaurant along the way, capping off another memorable day of photography.

Day 4

For those interested, there’s the option of embarking on a captivating hot air balloon ride at the break of dawn.
After breakfast, you’ll have some free time until 11:30 to relax and explore at your own pace.
Our first destination of the day will be Gorkundere Valley, where we’ll take a leisurely stroll and capture the striking rock formations in the area. Our next stop is Love Valley, where we’ll enjoy another short walk and photograph the distinctive phallic rock formations that characterize this unique landscape.
Following lunch, scheduled for around 15:00, we’ll continue our journey to Hurmetci village. Here, we’ll commence our photography session by capturing the essence of the buffalos and then shift our focus to photographing approximately 300 wild Yilki horses, as they gallop freely through the dusty terrain, during the mesmerizing sunset hours.
Once the sunset, we’ll make our way back to our hotel, where you can unwind and prepare for another memorable dinner experience at a local restaurant.

Day 5

We’ll begin our day with a captivating sunrise landscape photography session at several valleys renowned for their abundance of rock formations and caves.
Following this, we’ll return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast and some well-deserved rest.
In the afternoon, we have an enriching cultural experience planned. We’ll embark on a guided visit to the Goreme Open Air Museum, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore ancient cave churches adorned with beautiful paintings and frescoes dating back as early as the 10th century.
The remainder of the day will be dedicated to further exploration and photography in valleys replete with breathtaking rock formations and caves.
To conclude this eventful day, we’ll enjoy a delightful dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6

This morning’s photography session will feature two horses set against the backdrop of a valley adorned with caves, remarkable rock formations, and a sky adorned with colorful hot air balloons.

After your morning session, you can look forward to a leisurely breakfast and some free time at the hotel.

In the afternoon, our journey will take us to the picturesque Akhalteke Ranch located in Avanos. Here, we’ll have the opportunity to capture the beauty of approximately 20 Arabian horses in the scenic surroundings near the Red River. If the water level in the river permits, we’ll also guide 2-3 horses into the water to capture some stunning shots.

Day 7

Enjoy a leisurely morning at your own pace.

Around noon, we will embark on a photography session featuring two magnificent white horses set against the backdrop of the Deep Valley, with sunlight filtering through the caves. This location is at its most enchanting in the midday light.

Following our photo session, we’ll savor a delicious lunch and have some free time to relax.

As the blue-hour approaches, we’ll have the opportunity to capture the picturesque Pigeon Valley and the charming old town of Uchisar in all their evening splendor.

To conclude our unforgettable journey, we’ll gather for a heartfelt farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 8

Following breakfast, our dedicated driver will be ready to provide you with a comfortable transfer from the hotel to Kayseri Airport, ensuring a smooth journey back to your home destination.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you cancel and the workshop greater than 120 days from the start date of the workshop, and the seats does not fill, we will refund you the full amount you have paid, minus a $200 service charge. If you cancel and the workshop within 120 days or less from the start date of the workshop, and the seats does not fill, the fee is non-refundable.
