Itinerary

It is our goal for our participants to have ample time to photograph many of Death Valley’s most photogenic locations with the best available light. Weather in winter is far more likely to produce those dramatic skies that every landscape photographer looks for. With the skills you learn, you’ll be in the right place with the right knowledge to capture these iconic spots.

Our master photographers will guide you as we venture through the most scenic locations that this park has to offer. They will adjust the workshop itinerary based on astronomical opportunities as well as the weather forecast.  They will fine tune the daily destinations and timing each day according to the weather, sunrise, sunset, astro and weather forecasts, PhotoPills and other apps that assist our master photographers in planning out where the best opportunities to capture winter light will be.

Our home base will be at the hotel in Furnace Creek to photograph.  This will give us better flexibility to photograph the iconic vistas and features of the nearby surrounding areas: Zabriskie PointGolden Canyon, the salt polygons of Badwater Basin, Twenty Mule Team Canyon, Mesquite Sand Dunes, Devil’s Golf Course, Mud Cracks and more

In addition to countless shooting opportunities with our mastersseveral image critiques, masterclasses, and post-processing sessions are built into the itinerary.  We will be focusing on key topics such as teaching composition including pre-visualisationfilter use for landscape photography, Astrophotography (star trails, light painting and milky way), post-processing and color calibration techniques as well as gear review and equipment advice.
