Zhangjiajie, located in Hunan Province, is a remarkable city renowned for its stunning natural landscapes and unique rock formations. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, an inspiration for the ethereal landscapes in the movie “Avatar”. With its towering quartzite sandstone pillars, deep gorges, and lush forests, the park creates a surreal and otherworldly atmosphere. Don’t miss the iconic glass-bottomed Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Bridge, the world’s longest and highest glass bridge. Zhangjiajie is also home to Tianmen Mountain, famous for its remarkable Tianmen Cave and picturesque Tianmen Mountain Cableway. Day 1: Tianmen Mountain National Geological Park

Please ensure that you arrive at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG) no later than the night before Day 1 of the workshop. We will provide transportation from the airport to the hotel. The hotel is included in the fee. On Day 1, we will pick you up from the hotel in the morning and begin our photography journey at Tianmen Mountain National Geological Park. This captivating natural paradise in Zhangjiajie, China, will amaze you with its towering cliffs, deep canyons, and lush greenery. Don’t miss the iconic Tianmen Cave, accessible via an exhilarating cableway ride. The park also offers a glass walkway and serene hiking trails for unforgettable experiences. Immerse yourself in the beauty of this geological marvel and enjoy the tranquility and awe-inspiring vistas it offers. In the evening, we will proceed to Furong Ancient Town, where we will stay overnight.

Day 2: Furong Ancient Town

On this day, we will dedicate our time to photographing and exploring the captivating Furong Ancient Town. This town is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and traditional architecture, offering a fascinating glimpse into ancient Chinese village life. Nestled along the banks of the Furong River and surrounded by lush mountains, Furong Ancient Town provides a picturesque backdrop for our adventures. As we stroll along the narrow cobblestone streets, we’ll be transported back in time, admiring the traditional buildings, old stone bridges, and elegant wooden houses with intricate carvings and upturned eaves that reflect the Ming and Qing dynasties. Don’t miss the town’s famous Furong Waterfall, cascading down from a height of 60 meters, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. It’s a perfect opportunity to capture the town’s timeless charm. In the evening, we will journey to Fenghuang Ancient Town, where we will spend the night.

Day 3: Fenghuang Ancient Town

During this day, we will dedicate our time to photographing and exploring the captivating Fenghuang Ancient Town. Known for its well-preserved traditional architecture, ancient bridges, and cobblestone streets, the town exudes a unique charm and carries a rich history. As we wander through its streets, we will be immersed in China’s cultural heritage, encountering intricately carved wooden houses, ancient temples, and the vibrant customs and performances of the locals. The gentle flow of the Tuo River further enhances the town’s picturesque allure. With its enchanting ambiance and stunning natural surroundings, Fenghuang Ancient Town is a must-visit for those seeking an immersive and nostalgic experience of ancient China. In the evening, we will travel to Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie to continue our photographic journey.

Day 4 – 5: Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie

For the next two days, we will focus our photography on the captivating landscapes of Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie. Wulingyuan is a mesmerizing destination renowned for its awe-inspiring landscapes and extraordinary rock formations. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it showcases towering sandstone pillars, deep ravines, and lush forests, creating a surreal and otherworldly atmosphere. Within this scenic area, we will explore renowned attractions such as Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, and Suoxiyu Nature Reserve. Prepare to witness the remarkable Avatar Hallelujah Mountain, hike along breathtaking trails, and be amazed by panoramic viewpoints offering breathtaking views. Wulingyuan is a true haven for nature lovers, photographers, and adventurers seeking an unforgettable experience in Zhangjiajie.

Day 6: Zhangjiajie – Changsha – Huangshan

We will embark on a comfortable high-speed train journey from Zhangjiajie to Changsha, which takes approximately 3 hours. From Changsha, we will continue our travel to Huangshan, a scenic journey of around 4 hours. Traveling by high-speed train is the most convenient way to explore China, offering comfort and efficiency. Unlike airports, there is no need for lengthy check-in processes, and we will enjoy the comfort of first-class seating. Upon arrival in Huangshan, we will settle in Huangshan City.

Day 7: Shexian Ancient Town – Tangkou

In the morning, our focus will be on photographing the captivating Shexian Ancient Town. This historical gem is steeped in tradition and cultural heritage, earning it the nickname “Town of Archways.” Renowned for its well-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture, ancient stone arches, and charming cobblestone streets, Shexian Ancient Town immerses visitors in a bygone era. Strolling through its tranquil waterways, traditional courtyards, and intricate woodwork feels like stepping back in time. Moreover, the town’s tea culture adds to its allure, with numerous tea houses offering a chance to savor fine local teas. With its rich history, architectural beauty, and cultural significance, Shexian Ancient Town promises a delightful journey into China’s past. We will spend the night in Tangkou Town, situated at the base of Huangshan.

Day 8 – 11: Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)

We will begin our Huangshan adventure by taking the cable car to the mountain peak, where we will spend the next four days photographing this magnificent natural wonder. Huangshan, also known as Yellow Mountain, is often hailed as ‘the loveliest mountain of China.’ Located in southern Anhui province, it showcases a diverse range of vegetation, with lush forests below 1,100 meters (3,600 ft) and trees thriving up to the treeline at 1,800 meters (5,900 ft). The area is famous for its breathtaking scenery, mesmerizing sunsets, peculiarly-shaped granite peaks, Huangshan pine trees, rejuvenating hot springs, winter snow, and the captivating views of the sea of clouds. Huangshan has been a constant source of inspiration for traditional Chinese paintings, literature, and modern photography. Its timeless beauty has been celebrated throughout Chinese history, particularly in the mid-16th century during the emergence of the Shanshui ‘mountain and water’ artistic style. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Huangshan is revered as one of China’s best photography locations, especially in winter when the formation of the sea of clouds occurs with remarkable frequency. Get ready to capture the enchanting essence of Huangshan in our photography expedition.

Day 12: Hongcun

In the morning, we will devote our time to photographing the captivating beauty of Hongcun. This ancient village is renowned for its picturesque charm and well-preserved traditional architecture, offering a delightful subject for our lenses. Immerse yourself in the tranquil ambiance as we capture the intricate details of the ancient houses, winding alleys, and serene waterways. In the afternoon, we will ensure your smooth departure by providing transportation to Huangshan Tunxi International Airport (TXN) for your journey home. Reflect upon the memories and stunning images captured during our time together as you bid farewell to this remarkable destination.

Disclaimer

The tour is always dependent on weather, as the mountain weather can indeed be highly unpredictable. There is however always plenty to see and do if conditions do not favor any part of our original plan.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you cancel and the workshop greater than 120 days from the start date of the workshop, and the seats does not fill, we will refund you the full amount you have paid, minus a $200 service charge. If you cancel and the workshop within 120 days or less from the start date of the workshop, and the seats does not fill, the fee is non-refundable.
